Durasnze Isle is one of many islands in the southwestern portion of the Karingian Archipelago. It is more than capable of supporting its population of about 200 inhabitants, in no small part because of a network of fresh springs that well up into caverns beneath the rocky surface. It reaches a height of 750 feet above sea level at its highest point in the upper forest portion.

The island could support a population increase, but it attracts little attention in the way of further settlement due to a combination of most of its necessary trade niches being filled, and the fact that Umissewa Island (a much larger island) is located less than 10 miles north-northwest from its position.

It is home to a few farmers, a handful of fishers, and the rest of the population is mercantile. Some have boats of their own that allow them to conduct extra business, while some rely on trade coming through the chain of islands alone.

I went with a painting type of approach to the coloring and am fairly (not necessarily completely) happy with it. It's far from perfect but I have to get the ball rolling on this to get somewhere with it.
